Re: Commitment Letter Request
Dear Mr. Butson:
This letter is in response to your request for acknowledgement of our communications regarding the
commitment letter request for water service to Aurora Organic Dairy (AOD) and its expansion. The
AOD facility is located at 6788 State Highway 66 in unincorporated Weld County.
Little Thompson Water District currently serves AOD through a 2 -inch service at Tap number 621 and
a 1 %2 inch service at Tap number 2083. We received a request for a commitment letter for AOD's
expansion plans dated August 26, 2016 and are working with AOD and Tetra Tech to determine what
system requirements, water dedication, and flow rates will be required to serve the property as it
expands.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
Regards,
Amber Kauffman, PE

Re: Aurora Organic Dairy Sewer Service
Dear Mr. Butson,
This letter is confirmation that the Aurora Organic Dairy milk processing facility, located
at 6788 State Highway 66, Platteville, Colorado is served by the St. Vrain Sanitation
District (SVSD). The dairy property lies within the SVSD 208 planning area and was
issued a sewer tap permit in November of 2004. The Dairy also holds a SVSD
pretreatment discharge permit which sets limits on the concentration and volume of
process wastewater discharged.
The District has been notified that planning for the possible expansion of dairy operations
is underway. These additions are expected to increase both the domestic and process
wastewater flows produced. Due to a recent SVSD treatment plant expansion, there is
adequate capacity to accept additional domestic flows. Acceptance of additional process
wastewater, with its potential for extremely high organic loading, will be evaluated to
determine the impact it could have on current and future SVSD treatment operations.
Expansion of the existing dairy pretreatment system may be required to ensure that
adequate pretreatment is achieved at higher flows. Continued coordination with SVSD
on proposed changes prior to implementation will enable both parties to share needed
information and is required under the terms of the existing pretreatment discharge permit
and sewer service agreement.
The District and the Dairy have enjoyed a good working relationship since initial
construction and continuing through several past expansions. District staff look forward
to continuing this cooperation for the upcoming project.
