RE: SETTING THE AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION FOR ELECTION JUDGES
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Section 1-6-115, C.R.S., 1973, as amended, allows that in all elections in all
precincts each judge of election shall receive not less than five dollars ($5.00) as full
compensation for services as judge at any such election, as shall be determined by the Board of
County Commissioners, and
WHEREAS, as authorized by Resolution approved by the Board on June 20, 2007,
election judges may be compensated at the rate of one -hundred twenty dollars ($120.00) per day
during the election and supervising judges at one -hundred forty dollars ($140.00) per day during
an election; however, the Clerk and Recorder of Weld County has asked that the election judges
be paid per hour versus per day to allow the Weld County Accounting Department to pay the
judges through the payroll system and to reduce complications in paying the election judges
through multiple systems.
WHEREAS, in compliance with Section 1-6-115, C.R.S., election judges are not
employees of Weld County and this change in payment method does not affect this
classification.
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to change the method of payment
for election judges from daily to hourly and to set the hourly pay for election judges at fifteen
dollars ($15.00) per hour and for supervising election judges at seventeen dollars and fifty cents
($17.50) per hour to approximately match the current allowable daily rate of the above stated
judges.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the method of payment for elections judges for Weld County be, and
hereby is, approved, to be paid at the hourly rate of fifteen ($15.00) dollars per hour and that
supervising election judges for Weld County be paid at the hourly rate of seventeen dollars and
fifty cents ($17.50) per hour during an election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that this order shall be effective upon the date
of approval of this Resolution and shall continue in full force until further resolution of the Board
regarding election judge compensation.
