RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON
VARIOUS COUNTY ROADS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that 35 MPH signs (R2-1) be temporarily installed on the following County Roads: 13 from 34 to
38, 44 from US 85 to 39, 69 from US 34 to 67, 39 from 38 to 44, and 54.25 from 49 to 53, being
more fully described in said proposal which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install 35
MPH signs (R2-1) at the various intersections described above on a temporary basis, for the
safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic
Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 20th day of March, A.D., 2017.

SUBJECT: Temporary Reduction of Speed Limits
A Request Resolution from the BOCC directing Public Works to install traffic regulatory signs (Speed Limit R2-
1) at various locations. The signs will be in place at various locations during the dates listed in the chart below.
The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) recommends posting the speed limit within 5
mph of the 85 percentile speed limit (Section 2B-13). Other factors such as road characteristics,
roadside development, accident records, and shoulder conditions may be considered when establishing
speed limits. For public safety while Public Works Staff is contructing roadway improvements at the
following locations; we would like to reduce the speed limit from 55 mph to 35 mph temporarily.
