WHEREAS, pursuant to law, the Office of the County Superintendent
of Schools was abolished by the voters of Weld County, Colorado, at the 1974
General Election, and
WHEREAS, Paul W. Richard was elected as the Weld County Superin-
tendent of Schools at the 1974 General Election and to carry on the functions
of said Office up to and including June 30, 1975, as prescribed by law, and
WHEREAS, Paul W. Richard as the Weld County Superintendent of
Schools did officially assume the duties of said Office,and further, has done
what had been required of him in such capacity, and
WHEREAS, Paul W. Richard has now reported to the Board of County
Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, by letter dated May 6, 1975, copy
of which is attached hereto for ready reference and made a part hereof, that
all important school records have been microfilmed, and that he has appointed
S. Lee Shehee, Weld County Clerk and Recorder, to assume the further ser-
vice function of such school records, and that all school census records,
teacher record cards, reorganization records, and historical materials of Weld
County are now in permanent bulk storage at the State of Colorado Archives, and
WHEREAS, Paul W. Richard is desireous of continuing to officially
serve as Weld County Superintendent of Schools as required by law until the
office is officially abolished on June 30, 1975, and to continue to serve without
pay.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Com-
missioners, Weld County, Colorado, that pursuant to the hereinabove mentioned
letter of May 6, 1975, from Paul W. Richard and his report as contained therein,
it hereby orders that said office space presently occupied by the Weld County
Superintendent of Schools be permanently closed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board, and it hereby directs and
authorizes the Weld County Treasurer to transfer all monies heretofore budgeted
to run the affairs of said Office into the Weld County General Fund.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and
seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 21st day of May, A. D. , 1975.
