PUBLIC INPUT: John Lovell and Nicole Stanek, representatives of St. Vrain Habitat for Humanity,
presented the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and submitted a flyer marked as Exhibit "A". Ms.
Stanek explained the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the Neighborhood Revitalization Project and
other non-profit businesses in the area is to enhance the quality of life. She thanked the Commissioners
that came to the Glens Neighborhood at Dacono and noticed the disrepair in the neighborhood. Ms.
Stanek explained it has been recognized as one of the poorest communities in Northern Colorado and,
after a survey there are 778 homes in the subdivision and of those homes at least one in five requires at
least one major repair. She stated they are working with Lowes to do a beautification project on fifteen
(15) homes and Lowes is providing the materials. Ms. Stanek announced they are looking for volunteers
and $150,000.00 for land acquisitions. Mr. Lovell reiterated that it is important to make sure people age
in place. Commissioner Conway thanked Mr. Lovell and Ms. Stanek for the work they are doing to help
low income and aging residents. In response to Commissioner Conway, Mr. Lovell stated the meeting
went well and resulted in the idea of a County -run loan program; however, the problem with this is that
people will have a hard time paying back the loan. He stated one option would be to involve the State to
help. a Tom Teixeira, Executive Director of the Greeley -Weld Housing Authority, stated there has not
been a lot of interest in home repair programs for just under $25,000.00. Commissioner Moreno inquired
about the breakfast on July 21, 2017, to see where the proceeds go. a Chair Cozad thanked him for
the tour of the neighborhood and for the partnership. Mr. Teixeira reported he will be attending a
groundbreaking for Peak View Trails, which will be providing 96 units of Senior Housing.
