BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PASS -AROUND REVIEW/ WORK SESSION REQUEST DEPARTMENT:_Weld County Sheriff's Office DATE: October 10, 2017 PERSON REQUESTING: Josh Noonan Brief description of the problem/issue: The Sheriffs Office would like to take advantage of an opportunity to conduct a 2-3 week free Test and Evaluation on the listed vehicle platform. The stipulation is that we must sign an agreement that we are financially responsible for any damage to the vehicle while in our possession. This is under a time restraint because the vehicle is only available in Colorado for a short time. We intend to complete a brief report at the end of the Test and Evaluation time that covers: Technical performance Handling performance Suitability for our working environment Mechanical performance We intend use the vehicle platform during the T&E at training operations and if the opportunity arises to test the platform in a live environment we would like the County's permission to deploy it. I envision this to be a possible addition to the fleet for 2019 or 2020. It appears to be ideal for covert operations and public venue missions so we do not give away our presence, alert the public or create anxiety. Sometimes discrete safety and security measures are more beneficial to the public than overt measures. In order to take advantage of this free evaluation period the vendor requires the completion of a Demo Vehicle Agreement. The agreement is attached. It is an acknowledgement that the County insurance will cover damages and liabilities while under our control and the County will pay the deductibles for any repair costs. What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options) Proceed to consent agenda or schedule a Work Session. The worst consequence is County Insurance would have to cover liabilities and costs associated with significant damage. Recommendation: Proceed to the consent agenda if the BOCC does not have questions or concerns Sean P. Conway Julie A.
