Memorandum of Understanding Renewal
Enclosed for the Board's approval is a Memorandum of Understanding between Cooking
Matters -Share Our Strength and the Weld County Board of County Commissioners for the use
and benefit of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE).
Through the support of the Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign, the WCDPHE is able
to provide healthy cooking and nutritious food shopping education to low income Weld County
residents through two Cooking Matters Coordinators. The coordinators conduct classes
throughout Weld County. The statewide Cooking Matters Colorado (CMC) program receives
funding from a number of sources, including private foundations, the State of Colorado and the
federal government.
The Health Department is requesting to renew this popular program with CMC to maintain the
two Coordinators for Weld County. The funding period begins on October 1, 2017, and concludes
on September 30, 2018. CMC will provide up to $126,548.87 for this MOU period which covers

CMC also provides funding for all programmatic related expenses (educational material, gift
cards, food, etc). The Health Department continues to be responsible for supervising the position
and providing the computer, phone, and mileage expenses. On October 1, 2018, we have the
option to renew the MOU and funding for the positions for another year.
This agreement was approved for placement on the Board's agenda via pass -around dated
August 29, 2017. I recommend approval of this Memorandum of Understanding with Cooking
