RESOLUTION
RE: APPROVAL OF UP GRADING OF BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER II
AND BUILDING MAINTENANCE FOREMAN.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board
of County Commissioners that there is an inability to recruit
personnel for Building Maintenance Worker II due to the present
pay grade level of 25 and experience qualifications , and
WHEREAS, it is recommended to the Board of County Commissioners
that the pay grade for the Building Maintenance Worker II be
increased from pay grade 25 to pay grade 31, and increase the
years experience from 2 to 4 years minimum, and
WHEREAS, based on internal equity, it is necessary to keep a
reasonable salary difference between supervisor and worker, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended to the Board of County Commissioners
that the pay grade for Building Maintenance Foreman be increased
from pay grade 33 to pay grade 35.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the pay grade for
Building Maintenance Worker II be, and hereby is, approved to be
increased from pay grade 25 to pay grade 31 and the years experience
be increase from 2 to 4 years. Said increases effective on
September 1, 1978 .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
that Building Maintenance Foreman pay grade be, and hereby is,
approved to be increased from pay grade 33 to pay grade 35,
effective on September 1, 1978.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 16th day of

Recommendation- Up grading of classification:
1) Building Maintenance Worker II
2) Building Maintenance Foreman
1) Increase Building Maintenance Worker II from grade 25 to grade
31. Also increase the years of experience from 2 to 4
years minimum.
This recommendation is a result of an inability to recruit qualified
personnel at the present grade and experience qualification. Also a
salary survey indicated that we are paying below the Greeley area and
the three surrounding counties, Adams, Larimer and Boulder.
2) Increase Building Maintenance Foreman from grade 33 to grade 35.
This recommendation is based on internal equity and is necessary to keep
a reasonable salary difference between supervisor and worker. In ad-
dition grade 35 is where the Foreman for the Road and Bridge Departments
are being paid who have similar levels of skills, experience, supervision
and responsibilities.

* This position was just vacated and filled with one of the Building
Maintenance II employees, that is why there is a reduction in cost.
If this recommendation is approved it will become effective 9-1-78 and
will cost $342.00 for the remainder of the year.
I suggest this recommendation be approved, there has been a Building
Maintenance Worker II position vacant for over a month now and has cre-
ated a savings of over $1,000.00 which far exeeds the additional ex-
pense of $342.00.
