RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON COUNTY ROAD 98
AT COUNTY ROAD 27
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that a Stop sign R1-1 be installed on County Road 98 at County Road 27, to ensure safety to the
traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install a
Stop sign R1-1 on County Road 98 at County Road 27, for the safety of the general public, and
said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 15th day of May, A.D., 2017.

SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs on CR 98 & CR 27
Public Works requests approval to install a traffic regulatory sign (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 98
with CR 29. West bound traffic would be stopped on CR 98 at CR 27.
Both roadways are local gravel roadways. CR 98 dead ends at CR 27. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices (MUTCD) section 26.04 suggests that stop signs should be placed at an intersection of a less
important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-way rule would not be expected to
provide reasonable compliance with the law. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped in the west
bound direction on CR 98 at CR 27.
