RE: EXTENSION OF REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 70 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 43 AND
45 FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE (1) WEEK, FOR UNANTICIPATED DELAYS DUE TO
ADDITIONAL TIME NEEDED FOR SEALING AND PAVING
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
said County Roads to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 70, between County Roads 43 and 45,
be extended, with said extended closure being effective August 11, 2017, for approximately an
additional one (1) week through August 18 , 2017, for unanticipated delays due to additional time
needed for sealing and paving, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be
erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
CR 70 between CR 43 and CR 45 was scheduled to be closed to thru traffic from 7/31/1 7
to 8/11/17 for a bridge re -deck. Public Works is requesting an extension of one week
until 8/18/17. The added time is needed to seal and pave the bridge.
