Letter of Support COG 2017.doc
Letter of Support COG 2017.doc
Attached is a draft letter of support for a Great Outdoor Colorado (GOCO) grant opportunity with the City of
Greeley. There are additional GOCO related initiatives WCYCC may be included in however, WCYCC will not need to
submit a letter of support for those as the funds are dedicated to Youth Corps. This is a GOCO Direct Grant which does
not guarantee funding to youth corps however, grants with youth corps included do receive additional points during the
review. They need this letter as soon as possible, unfortunately I didn't have this information earlier this morning. As a
side note, GOCO grants are made available annually, and WCYCC has had success with these opportunities bringing in
revenue to offset corps related expenses.

Dear Review Committee,
The Weld County Youth Conservation Corps (WCYCC) is pleased to provide their support to The City of
Greeley in the pursuit of funding. Through varying levels of service, WCYCC will work alongside staff to
restore Natural Areas where invasive species were previously removed.
Through this collaborative partnership, WCYCC will provide the necessary labor to assist in the preparation of
three identified project sites, followed by planting native trees and shrubs. The projected duration of the project
is six weeks, with a cost of WCYCC's services at $23,400. Through the work of a 6 -8 -member crew, WCYCC
will provide a minimum of 1,280 hours (320 per week) of paid service. In addition, WCYCC will donate 640
service hours (320 per week) to the project valued at an additional $11,700 to be used as match or in -kind in
support of this initiative.
WCYCC is eager to return to areas where invasive species were previously removed to assist with restoration
efforts. Engaging community opportunity youth with this project will allow corps members to realize long term
benefits of planting trees and shrubs while simultaneously providing invaluable real world experience to be
applied in future employment environments. This is an ideal opportunity for corps members to be involved with
projects to remove non-native species, followed by restoration and replanting native species to improve the
Great Outdoors of local communities.
Thank -you in advance for your time and expertise to support GOCO initiatives!
Sincerely,
Holly J Bernhardt
