BOX 758 GREELEY, COLORADO 80632 April 10, 2017 The Weld County Board of Commissioners is proud to provide this letter of a support for the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce's Recover Colorado Tourism marketing grant application. As outlined in the application, this grant would allow the numerous tourism assets throughout Weld County to be promoted not only in a variety of ways through means most of these tourism destinations may not be able to afford to do on their own but also to promote these assets to new audiences who may be unfamiliar with the great museums, trails, attractions and events held throughout this 4,000 square mile county. Promoting Weld County's assets is important to Weld County government as it brings visitors, new residents and new businesses to our county. In fact, in 2011, the commissioners participated in Governor John Hickenlooper's implementation of a statewide economic development strategy which resulted in the Colorado Blueprint: A Bottom - Up Approach to Economic Development. As a result of that project, the commissioners dedicated resources to promoting the appeal of Weld County. By building a website, Facebook page, and various other social media platforms, Weld County, through the Discover Weld project, has worked hard to share information about the numerous places and events unique to Weld County. Promotion by county government, though, has its limitations. That is why Weld County is pleased the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce has volunteered its time and resources to apply for this grant, which will be used to promote all of Weld County's tourism assets through proposed media purchases and booth rentals at various high -traffic events. These grant -funded actions will allow the opportunity for Weld County attractions — large and small — to participate in promotion activities. During early discussions regarding this application, one sentiment arose time and time again from the communities contacted: support for this application and its proposed projects will be beneficial to all of attractions and events in Weld County. By sharing information about all that Weld County has to offer (hiking/biking trails, music festivals, rodeos, museums, farmer's markets, hot air balloon festivals, parades, and so much more), Weld County will see economic benefits that will strengthen our business communities, our residential communities, and our municipalities.
