Re: Bids for Stryker System and Cots

As the Board is aware, the Coroner's Office will be privileged to take delivery of three new vehicles in the
near future. The Board previously has deemed it most cost effective to equip these vehicles with lifts that
are essentially identical to those used in ambulances. The use of such lift equipment is associated with a
reduction in injuries to employees and can allow staff members to work alone.
The Board will note that we have two bidders to supply this equipment. Agathos Laboratories in Santa
Clara, California, has offered the three beds and Stryker lift systems for the trucks for a total of $118,361.07.
The value of an optional installation by Agathos was bid at $6,315.
Similarly, the EMS division of the Stryker Corporation, located in Michigan, itself has offered the same
three beds and lift systems for a total of $115,380, with the optional installation costing $6,000.
There are no Weld County bidders and, to my knowledge, there are no Colorado outlets for this equipment.
There is no significant difference between the delivery dates between the two bidding vendors.
Given that Stryker is the manufacturer and that it has successfully supplied to us the beds and lift systems
currently in use, and given that Stryker is the low bidder for both materiel and installation, the Coroner's
Office respectfully recommends that the contract be awarded to Stryker.
