Dear Mr. Hernandez:
I am pleased to be writing a letter of support for Promises for Children, Weld County's Early Childhood
Council is seeking funding from the Colorado Child Care Referral and Response Grant to promote early
learning opportunities, improvement of quality child care, affordability, and accessibility of quality child care
for working families.
The first five years of a child's life are a critical time of growth and development. Beginning in infancy, high
quality child care affects a child's ability to succeed in school, develop relationships, and to master social
competence. There is a significant need for a funded, collaborative effort to increase community awareness
about the importance of early literacy and child care that promotes school readiness.
Child Care Resource and Referral is under the Promises for Children umbrella that helps families make an
informed child care decision so that parents and providers can partner to ensure their children are developing
intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically in a safe, clean, and engaging environment. The Child Care
Resource and Referral also provides many forms of support to professional child care providers, parents, and
caregivers. One of the strengths of our CCRR is our collaboration with community partners to provide services
to children and families.
Collaborative projects have included the annual Love to Learn Provider Conference, Professional Development
Trainings for Child Care Providers, and workforce development to recruit new child care providers.
