HomeMy WebLinkAbout20171782.tiffRECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WELD COUNTY, COLORADO JUNE 14, 2017 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Administration Building, Greeley, Colorado, June 14, 2017, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Julie A. Cozad, Chair - EXCUSED Commissioner Steve Moreno, Pro-Tem - EXCUSED Commissioner Sean P. Conway Commissioner Mike Freeman Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer, Acting Chair Pro-Tem Also, present: County Attorney, Bruce Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Stephanie Frederick Controller, Barbara Connolly El MINUTES: Commissioner Conway moved to approve the minutes of the Board of County Commissioners meeting of June 12, 2017, as printed. Commissioner Freeman seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. AMENDMENTS TO AGENDA: There were no amendments to the agenda. CONSENT AGENDA: Commissioner Freeman moved to approve the Consent Agenda as printed. Commissioner Conway seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. PRESENTATIONS: 1) WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY - JUNE 15, 2017: Eva Jewell, Department of Human Services, introduced her staff. Acting Chair Pro -Tern Kirkmeyer read the proclamation announcing June 15, 2017, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Ms. Jewell thanked the Board for the recognition and guidance so the staff can assist the aging population in Weld County. Each one of the Commissioners thanked Ms. Jewell and her staff for taking care of Weld County's elderly residents. (Clerk's note: the meeting was paused for a photo opportunity.) PUBLIC INPUT: No public input was given. COMMISSIONER COORDINATOR REPORTS: Commissioner Conway commended the Stampede Committee for their kick-off luncheon where they honored Jerry and Sandy Helgeson. He reported he attended the Interstate 25 funding sub -committee and the Regional Economic Development 7/11/ 9017 Minutes, June 14, 2017 Page 1 2017-1782 BC0016 Forum, with Commissioners Freeman and Moreno, where the State demographer presented interesting statistics about the aging population. He stated he attended the monthly Cache La Poudre meeting. Lastly, he reported he had the honor of chairing the Transportation Committee at CCI. Commissioner Freeman extended an invitation for the Lunch and Learns on Friday afternoons at the Courthouse. Commissioner Kirkmeyer attended the Town Hall meeting in Hudson and the Highway 85 Coalition. She stated she also attended of the CWAC meeting. BIDS: 1) APPROVE BID #B1700097, CISCO EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE RENEWAL — DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Ryan Rose, Director of the Department of Information Technology, stated staff recommends awarding the low bid to Insight Public Sector, Inc., for $170,944.67. Commissioner Freeman moved to approve said low bid. Seconded by Commissioner Conway, the motion carried unanimously. El 2) APPROVE BID #61700098, NUNN GRADER SHED - DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS (CONT'D TO 6/21/2017): Ms. Connolly requested a continuance of this matter to June 21, 2017, to give staff adequate time to review all bids. Commissioner Conway moved to continue said matter to June 21, 2017. Seconded by Commissioner Freeman, the motion carried unanimously. 3) APPROVE BID #61700101, 822 7TH STREET ELEVATOR MODERNIZATION - DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: Ms. Connolly presented the terms of the sole bid and recommended awarding the bid to Elevator Technicians for $399,300.00. In response to Commissioner Conway, Toby Taylor, Director of Buildings and Grounds, stated they are the current vendor for Maintenance and the bid under the budgeted amount. Commissioner Freeman moved to approve said bid. The motion, which was seconded by Commissioner Conway, carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: 1) CONSIDER CONTRACT FOR VICTIM WITNESS ASSISTANCE UNIT FUNDING AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - VICTIM'S ASSISTANCE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT (VALE) BOARD: Michael Rourke, District Attorney, presented the contract authorizing the District Attorney's Office to receive funding. Commissioner Conway moved to approve said contract and authorize the Acting Chair Pro-Tem to sign. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Freeman and it carried unanimously. Commissioner Conway thanked Mr. Rourke for all his hard work and having the best Victim Assistance program in the State. RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES: The resolutions were presented and signed as listed on the Consent Agenda. No Ordinances were approved.
