TO WELD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
FROM EDITH PHILLIPS
SUBJECT Tri-State Transmission company
As I write this I am angry, angry, furious, burned up. Thanks to
you I now have ugly transmission lines directly in front of my
picture window blocking out the beauty of the buttes. But worse,
when the many, many wires are on top of the towers I shall have
a 24-hour a day and night nightmare as the shrill, constant whistle
of the wind through those wires drives me absolutely mad. No human
being can bear the noise the wires will make.
I shall have no telephone or TV or radio reception because the
noise will drive out the sound , snow the tv reception. I cannot
hide from this noise in the house and I cannot bear the noise
as I work outside.
You must tell me now what I am to do? It is your decision. You
made this possible with your decision to allow the line to go by
m;; house . I had a voice in the meeting when this was given an
OK but not one, not one single commissioner spoke up, no one
lifted a finger to help me .
I am asking you now to get the towers moved at least two miles
north of my home. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that
this cannot be done. At the moment I am prepared to give my life
to keep those towers from becoming operational if they are put up
where the firm is now pouring cement. I am willing to go to jail
to keep the nightmare contained.
All of this, thanks to you, the so-called elected representatives
of the people.
