WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY
JUNE 15, 2017
WHEREAS, June 15 is recognized as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and
WHEREAS, at -risk adults represent some of the most vulnerable persons in Weld
County, and
WHEREAS, the aging population of Weld County is increasing and projected to
increase significantly over the next thirty years creating a larger group of at -risk elders
in our community, and
WHEREAS, at -risk adults in our community have a right to not be physically abused,
financially exploited, exploited by other means, or neglected in their care, and
WHEREAS, each of us in our community plays a role in the prevention of elder abuse,
r , and in addition to mandatory reporters, Weld County encourages anyone concerned
about the safety and well-being of any at risk adult in Weld County to report to law
enforcement or to the Weld County Adult Protection Hotline (970) 346-7676.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of County Commissioners does hereby proclaim
Thursday, June 15, 2017, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
