SUBJECT: 2017 Crushed Type 1 Aggregate Supply

Bid Recommendation
On March 10, 2017 no vendors submitted a bid in response to our request for crushed type 1 aggregate supply
for the 2017 chip seal program. Do to the time constraints, public works recommends that no action be taken
on bid #B1700059.
Public works is in the process of renewing Bid #B1600088 crushed type 2 aggregate supply for the 2017 chip
seal program.

No vendors submitted a bid in response to our request. Staff will attempt to locate a
source of aggregate. Per Section 5-4-50.F.1. (pasted below) the Director of General
Services will attempt to negotiate a purchase. The results of any negotiation will be
presented to the Board of County Commissioners.
Sec. 5-4-50. - General information.
F. Special circumstances for negotiated purchases without bid. Purchase Orders and contracts may
be awarded by the Board of County Commissioners without the requirement stated in this
Section in any of the following cases:
1. In the event no bids are received for an item, the Director of General Services is authorized
to negotiate a purchase on behalf of the County.
