RE: Notice of the Need for the Control of Noxious Weeds
Dear Landowner:
Under provision of the Colorado Weed Management Act (35-5.5-109 CRS) and Weld County Code,
Chapter 15, Article II, this letter is to serve as notice that the presence of noxious weeds has been
observed on properties which are owned, leased, and/or occupied by you and located in: Section 20,
Township 2 North, Range 65 West of the 6th P. M., in Weld County, Colorado. The properties are
designated in the Weld County Assessor's Office as parcels number 130720000022, 130720000011, and
130720000013.
The noxious weeds present on the property include: Scotch thistle (Onopordum acanthium).
Because these weeds are nearing bloom stage, they must be controlled and kept from going to seed.
Presently, the best methods of control are: 1) to mow as necessary throughout the year to keep the weeds
from going to seed (3-5 times) and then spray with herbicides in the fall, 2J to mow throughout the season
to keep the plants from going to seed, 3) to spray with herbicides up to the early flower stage.
Section 35-5.5-109, C.R.S. and Weld County Code, Chapter 15, requires you to control the weeds
by using at least one of these methods by June 30, 2017 or submit an acceptable weed management
plan with an acceptable completion date or request an arbitration panel by June 30, 2017. If you
do not comply by June 30, 2017, I will request a Right of Entry from the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County to enter the property to control the designated noxious weeds at
your expense, as provided in Section 35-5.5-109 (5a) C.R.S. and Weld County Code, Chapter 15.
I will be glad to answer any questions you may have regarding the control or eradication of the noxious
weeds on the property. I am also available to assist you in developing short and long term weed
management plans. The office phone number is 970-304-6496, ext. 3770 for Tina Booton or 3772 for
me. I can also be reached by email at: klynch@weldgov.com.
Sincerely,
