RE: EXTENSION OF REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 74 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 69.25
AND 79 FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE WEEK, FOR UNANTICIPATED DELAYS DUE TO
ASPHALT PAVING DELAYS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
said County Roads to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the temporary closure of County Road 74, between
County Roads 69.25 and 79, be extended, effective October 16, 2017, for an additional one (1)
week through October 23, 2017, due to unanticipated construction and asphalt paving delays,
and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving
notice of the restrictions.

MEMORANDUM
TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: October 5, 2017
FROM: Amy Joseph, Public Works Department
SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
CR 74 between CR 69.25 and CR 79 was scheduled to be closed to thru traffic from
9/26/17 thru 10/16/17 for the realignment of CR 74 & SH 392. Due to the construction
of the concrete box culverts at Crow Creek taking longer than anticipated, and the
ongoing asphalt paving being delayed, the contractor has requested an extension of one
week until 10/23/17.
