WILLIAM "BILL" WEBSTER DAY
MONDAY, MARCH 20, 2017
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to formally recognize the civic
contributions of William "Bill" Webster and the value those contributions brought to the
residents of Weld County, and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Webster made many contributions to agriculture that
revolutionized the cattle industry from new feeding techniques to implementing new
computer technology while owning and operating Webster Land and Cattle, and was
recently inducted into the Colorado Agriculture Hall of Fame, and
WHEREAS, he became a public servant to those in Weld County with the election to the
Board of Weld County Commissioners in 1991, and he continued in this position until 1998,
and
WHEREAS, during his term of service, the Board of County Commissioners completed
several substantial projects including building the South West Weld Administration Building
and bringing services to all of southwestern Weld residents; constructing the western
arterial, which is now known as the Two Rivers Parkway; getting voter approval and building
a new jail; creating the Department of Public Works and further developing the Weld County
Business Park to include a new Health and Planning Services Building; and laying the
foundation to becoming a "debt -free" county, and
WHEREAS, William "Bill" Webster's civic contributions to Weld County also included being a
founder of the Boys and Girls Club of Weld County, continued through his service as a State
Representative, serving on numerous boards and commissions throughout the years,
including United Way of Weld County, therefore demonstrating his ongoing desire to see
Weld County succeed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Board appreciates the passion, loyalty, and dedication William
"Bill" Webster has demonstrated to Weld County, without which Weld County would not be
the great place it is today, declare that Monday, March 20, 2017, be known as William "Bill"
Webster Day.
