Home My WebLink About750335.tiff RESOLUTION RE: WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY - CHANGE IN METHOD OF APPOINTMENT, WHEREAS, heretofore and on June 6, 1951, by Resolution, the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, did establish the WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY and pursuant to said Resolution did appoint the first Board of Directors thereto, and WHEREAS, said WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY has been in existence since its inception and to the present time, and WHEREAS, said WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY has been dormant for some time and of no force and effect, and WHEREAS, the Board pursuant to law, specifically C. R. S. 1973, 29-4-704 (6), as in such cases made and provided has determined that it would be in the best interests of the County to change the method of appoint- ment to said Housing Authority, and WHEREAS, pursuant to C. R. S. 1973, 29-4-704 (2), the Board, after proper notice and public hearing as required by law, has determined that the members of the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, shall ex officio be appointed the Commissioners of the WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing, and pursuant to the authority of law, the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, hereby DETERMINES and ORDERS that the members of the Board shall be the Commissioners of the WELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY; that the term of office of each Commissioner shall be coterminous with his term on the Board; that the Chairman of the Board shall ex officio be Chairman of the Commission; and that the Commissioners shall select from their members a Vice-Chairman. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 10thday of September, A.D. , 1975. The League is committed on all levels to working for housing for low are moderate income families. There is a direct correlation between the availability of standard housing and the desirable location of that housing to the health of a community. We believe that it is very desirable to establish this channel for federal housing funds before the problems which can result from insufficient standard housing become unwieldy. Although recently passed federal legislation maintains only the extension of the rehabilitation loan program, the League ie actively working with other groups to secure federal funding for housing programs up to the full authorization level, and for increased allocations for housing managed by public agencies. If and when increased federal funding of this type is available, a functioning County Housing Authority would be ready to effectively implement these programs. A Weld County Housing Authority is also needed to serve as a clearing house and sponsor for county communities other than Greeley to receive Section VIII housing monies. We do wish to point out that the Colorado Revised Statute (CRS 29-4.504) governing county housing authorities does not require these bodies to be composed solely of. the Board of County Commissioners. In view of the heavy work load imposed on the Commissioners by the growing complexity of county and regional government, the Housing Authority could be composed of one county official with an additional four members appointed by the Board to ease the Commissioners' burden. We should als, remember that the maximum benefits to the citizens result from having a Housing Authority staff with great competency to deal with the intricacies of the federal housing fund process.
