The Weld County Board of Health met July 25, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the Second -
Floor Hearing Room of the Weld County Department of Public Health and
Environment. Those present included:
Board Members: Jason Maxey, Chair; Joyce Smock, Vice Chair; Sandra
Owens, Linda Kautz, and Nicholas Berryman.
Others: Katie Sall, Environmental Health Services, (WCDPH&E);
Debbie Drew, Director of Public Health Nursing, (WCDPH&E); Marisela
Mendez, RN Immunization Supervisor, (WCDPH&E); Lauren Light,
Environmental Health Manager, (WCDPH&E).
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
A motion was made by Joyce Smock to approve the agenda as presented. Linda Kautz
seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Joyce Smock to approve the June 27,2017, minutes as
submitted. Nicholas Berryman seconded the motion, and the motion was carried
unanimously.
CONSENT ITEMS
A motion was made by Nicholas Berryman to approve Biosolids Application for Veris
Environmental LLC. - DS200667, DS200813, DS200814, DS200816, DS200819, DS20020,
DS200821, DS200823, DS200824, DS201205, and DS201319. Joyce Smock seconded the
motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
A motion was made by Nicholas Berryman to approve the Experimental OWTS Design
System, with the conditions presented from the Environmental Staff. Sandra
Owens seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
PRESENTATIONS
Marisela Mendez is the immunization supervisor and she presented information
about the immunization clinics, travel immunizations and other services that are
provided within the travel clinic. She also shared information on back to school
and about the need to be vaccinated to help prevent diseases. Marisela handed out
a vaccination questions and answers information form and how they work. She also
spoke about the importance for immunity health and gave information about
influenza, chicken pox (Varicela), Pertusis and Measles. She spoke about
complications of not having these vaccinations and statistics on populations that
do not receive these immunizations. Children ages 2 months and above are
recommended to be immunized. Also, immunization education and resources are
distributed around Weld County for the community to get vaccinated.
A motion was made by Joyce Smock to adjourn the meeting. Nicholas Berryman
seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
