Dear Sir:
The release of radioactive iodine into the atmosphere through a
malfunction at the Fort St, Vrain Nuclear Power plant was shocking
proof that your campaign against nuclear safeguard legislation
in Colorado was ill-advised, The potential cost of nuclear
power to public welfare far outweighs potential savings in energy
production. While we believe it is possible to design safe
nuclear power plants, we also believe that the expense of such
plants would make them economically unfeasible. Clearly Public
Service Company of Colorado, in spite of rhetoric to the contrary,
is unwilling to place the public safety first.
