MEMORANDUM
TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: March 1, 2017
FROM: Janet Lundquist, Public Works
SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs on CR 33 & CR 34
Public Works requests approval to install a traffic regulatory sign (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 33
with CR 34. East and West bound traffic would be stopped on CR 34 at CR 33.
The traffic count for CR 34 was taken in July 2013 with an AADT of 34. The traffic count for CR 34 was taken
in July 2013 with an AADT of 147, both roadways are local gravel roadways. The Manual of Uniform Traffic
Control Devices (MUTCD) section 26.04 suggests that stop signs should be placed at an intersection of a less
important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-way rule would not be expected to
provide reasonable compliance with the law. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped in the East and
West bound direction on CR 34 at CR 33.
