RE: DIRECT WELD COUNTY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE RESOLUTION FOR
CONSIDERATION ON AUGUST 16, 2017, SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF WELD COUNTY PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE WELD COUNTY
HOME RULE CHARTER TO ELIMINATE THE WELD COUNTY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, on August 9, 2017, letters from former Weld County Councilmembers Marge
Klein and Don Mueller were provided to the Board of County Commissioners requesting that the
Board submit to the qualified electors of Weld County proposed amendments to the Weld County
Home Rule Charter to eliminate the Weld County Council, and
WHEREAS, at the Board's regular meeting on August 9, 2017, former Weld County
Councilmembers Dale Hall and Ginny Buczek gave public input also requesting that such
proposed amendments be submitted to the qualified electors, and
WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to direct the Weld County Attorney to prepare
a Resolution for the Board's consideration on August 16, 2017, to submit to the qualified electors
of Weld County proposed amendments to the Weld County Home Rule Charter to eliminate the
Weld County Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Weld County Attorney be, and hereby is, directed to prepare a
Resolution for the Board's consideration on August 16, 2017, to submit to the qualified electors
of Weld County proposed amendments to the Weld County Home Rule Charter to eliminate the
Weld County Council.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 14th day of August, A.D., 2017.
