Your protest of value has been denied due to comparison of other similar properties which sold during the 2015/2016 time period. The deadline for filing real property appeals is July 15. The Assessor establishes property values. The local taxing authorities (county, school district, city, fire protection, and other special districts) set mill levies. The mill levy requested by each taxing authority is based on a projected budget and the property tax revenue required to adequately fund the services it provides to its taxpayers. The local taxing authorities hold budget hearings in the fall. If you are concerned about mill levies, we recommend that you attend these budget hearings. Please refer to last year's tax bill or ask your Assessor for a listing of the local taxing authorities. Please refer to the reverse side of this notice for additional information. We purchased this house in 2014 for $212,000. The increase from $212,000 to $276,499 is an increase of 30%. We believe that an increase of 15% is a more appropriate amount. That would put the value at $243,800. The basement is just a concrete cave, so that leaves us with 700 square feet of living space. The increased assessment would equal $395 per square foot of actual living space. That seems unreasonable. We are senior citizens living off a small retirement. Please consider reducing this assessment to $243,800 — still a sizeable increase of $31,800. rely, J-rry and Kathleen Vander Zwaag w Q v, 0 0 < W CV F N 1- nZ • - 00SOep CO VjdOcoJQ (('I Z ¢ N fD O CO O O czn o N-Irc clQ t ,2 czt czz CCI W OrV, f Z w c~ LAC +; c)4.6.
