HomeMy WebLinkAbout20183382September 26, 2017 Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment Second Floor Hearing Room 210 The Weld County Board of Health met September 26, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the second -floor hearing room of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. Those present included: Board Members: Jason Maxey, Chair; Joyce Smock, Vice Chair; Sandra Owens, Linda Kautz, Tim Annable, Nicholas Berryman, Bill Wood Others: Katie Sall, Environmental Health Services Cameron Sanchez — High Plains Engineering APPROVAL OF AGENDA A motion was made by Linda Kautz to approve the agenda as presented. Bill Wood seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Joyce Smock to approve the August 22, 2017 minutes. Sandra Owens seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. CONSENT ITEMS Veris Environmental, LLC. Biosolids Renewals Katie Sall presented nine applications for biosolids renewals - DS -200407, DS -200639, DS -200174, DS -200818, DS -200822, DS -200912, DS -200913, DS -200914, DS -201109. No public comments or concerns were received on these applications. A motion was made by Tim Annable to approve biosolids renewals. Bill Wood seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. Experimental OWTS - SP -1700295, owner, Adam Still Katie Sall presented application SP -1700295. Standard conditions have been applied and Katie recommends approval. • This is a one bedroom home with a 2nd residence on the same parcel. • Soils report indicates sandy clay with deep bedrock. • Engineer design submitted by High Plains Engineering. • 1000- gallon septic tank will be installed with a warranty on OWTS system. • Replacement OWTS can be replaced if system fails. • Secondary design meets State Standards. • Weld County does not track operations maintenance. • If issues arise, Environmental specialists will follow-up on. Cameron Sanchez — High Plains Engineering • High Plains Engineering provided engineering design for customer. • Septic system will be installed by a licensed septic installer. • Soils testing was highly recommended. • 2nd residence to be utilized by grandmother and occasional grandchildren. PRESENTATIONS: Nick Trautner — Environmental Health Services Nick gave a presentation on swimming pools in Weld County. • Environmental Health currently inspects 12 pools. • Program is voluntary. • The Health Department follows the Colorado Swimming Pool Regulations. • Physical inspections are conducted once a year. • Chemical inspections are conducted four times a year. • Inspections include PH range, amounts of chlorine and filtration system. • Environmental Health inspectors also respond to complaints. Cindy Kronague — Health Communications Cindy gave a brief presentation on the Community Health Survey. • A County wide random survey was completed. • 500 households received a survey. • Received 2000 responses. • Survey was divided into four regions, North, Southeast, Southwest and Greeley/Evans. • Cindy will return to future Board of Health meetings with updates.
