The Town of Firestone had presented a request to convert Dunmire Street to an emergency access only at
the intersection with McClure Avenue at a work session on May 3, 2017. The consensus at the work session
was that the Commissioners had no objections, but a neighborhood meeting with all Evanston neighbors
should be held in order to present the plan to the effected property owners.
On May 25, 2017 the neighborhood meeting was held at the Firestone Town Hall and was attended by Weld
County Operations Manager Curtis Hall and County Commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer. The plan was
presented to all attendees and there were no objections, after the pros and cons were weighted.
The project is currently out to bid with a project award date set for December 13, 2017 and construction
anticipated to begin at any point after award. Two keys for the emergency access gate will be provided to
Weld County after the gate is installed. The owner at 565 Dunmire Street will be notified prior to any work
beginning along Dunmire Street and Weld County will also be notified with a Right -of -Work permit request.
