RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE TEMPORARY
CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 388 FOR COUNTY ROAD 53 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
PROJECT FOR APPROXIMATELY TWELVE (12) DAYS, FOR VARIOUS
IMPROVEMENTS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
said County Road to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that County Road 388, be temporarily closed, with said
closure being effective October 15, 2018, for approximately twelve (12) days for the County Road
53 Bridge Replacement Project, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be
erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: CR 388 Road Closure
As part of the CR 53 Bridge Replacement Project, the CR 388 intersection has to be
reconstructed to align with the new CR 53 alignment that is being constructed with the new
bridge. This road closure is for CR 388 only. CR 53 will remain open to the traveling
public.
The road closure is scheduled to last from October 15, 2018 to October 26, 2018. During the
closure a new 48 -inch RCP culvert will be installed, and the roadway will be raised by 1 to 2
feet in order to prevent overtopping in the 100 -year flood event.
Message boards will be placed on CR 53 north and south of the project limits and on CR 388
near CR 61 to alert the public to the closure. Emergency management, fire, police, and
schools will be notified of the road closure and will be provided with the MHT showing the
detour routes.
The Contractor is Zak Dirt.
