Championships May 25 through June 2 in Greeley; and
WHEREAS, in the double elimination tournament, the Bulldogs defeated Delta,
Eaton and Faith Christian before losing a close game to Lamar 6-5; and
WHEREAS, University and Lamar met again in the championship game, and the
Bulldogs dominated. Senior Grayson Swanson went five -for -five hitting for the
cycle, and the Bulldogs scored multiple runs in all but one inning. University
defeated Lamar 21-2 in five innings; and
WHEREAS, first -year head coach Casey Miller and the Bulldogs earned University
their first state baseball championship in 21 years and finished the season with a
record of 23-3.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, in recognition of the outstanding effort and achievements of
the University Bulldogs Baseball Team, that Monday, June 18, 2018 be known as
University Bulldogs Day.
