As of right now there is not a way to get an estimate for a Class D trailer (Popup Camper). There are several factors that go into a Class D vehicle such as length, width, or if it as bumper pull, or empty weight. Since we do not have set fee's for vehicles in Colorado we do not feel comfortable giving an estimate over the phone. It is a standard practice amongst Colorado Counties not to give out estimates over the phone to alleviate any errors. Ownership tax is set by state statute and the county does not control the fees. If you would like to contact your state legislature representatives you may find the contact information by calling the Elections Office at 970-304-6525. I was told this was impossible to do without knowing 3 pieces of information. When I told them I had the information, I was told they could not enter it in over the phone. I should just pop over...I live an hour away. You are suppose to be transparent, not publishing this information is a lack of transparency. I should not have to drive over an hour to pop into your office, stand in your long lines just to try and figure out what I will owe. There should be a way for me or your staff to figure out this information without having to enter it into a computer system. Should we really be hiring staff who are not capable of simple math? Is there a reason why this information is not available on your website for me to at least plug in and figure out myself? Why is it available for cars and trucks and but not pop up campers? Also, why am I being charged a ownership tax? This is yearly tax charged to me for simply owning and pop up camper...I have not driven it anywhere. I would like information about how a tax payer would go about getting rid of this tax, be I pretty sure Weld County residents do not want to charged for something they already paid tax on when they bought it. Double whammy. I am disgusted with this practice. I look forward to your response.
