service of Stan Cass, Weld County community leader, for his outstanding
dedication to Weld County and its veterans; an&
WHEREAS, Stan Cass retired from the Army after 29 plus years in active duty,
and went onto helping his community; and
WHEREAS, he has impacted thousands of veterans in Weld County by helping the
Veterans Memorial be built in Greeley that set a standard for other cities and
towns, and was the founder of the Honor Flight of Northern Colorado, which has
taken more than 2,500 veterans to Washington D.C. to see war memorials; and
WHEREAS, Stan Cass farmed in Briggsdale, was active in his community through
the Community Foundation, Mason and Shriner Clubs, Legacy Land and Trust,
Colorado State University Beef Club, West Greeley Conservation District, along with
several veterans groups and was also a past Mayor of Ault; and
WHEREAS, his diligent and dedicated service as a military officer and a
community volunteer and leader is a great example of his legacy that will provide
inspiration to all who aspire to contribute to the well-being of all Weld County and
its veterans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Board appreciates the passion,
loyalty, vision, honesty, dedication and service Stan Cass has demonstrated to
Weld County and it veterans, and do hereby declare that Saturday, June 2, 2018,
be known as Stan Cass Day.
