The Weld County Board of Commissioners proudly recommends special recognition of the Front
Range Fire District Authority (FRFDA) by the Special Districts Association (SDA) at the upcoming
SDA annual conference.
The collaborative efforts the Johnstown Fire Protection District (JFPD) and the Milliken Fire
Protection District (MFPD) demonstrated when they formed the FRFDA was an admirable testament
of first -responder agencies working together for the good of the residents they serve.
The JFPD and MFPD began collaborating on calls as well as sharing personnel and equipment over
seven years ago. Eventually, the two agencies, located within just miles of each other, agreed to
create the FRFDA through an Intergovernmental Agreement.
The creation of the FRFDA has not only saved taxpayers money while growing both districts but also
has allowed the FRFDA to enter into an IGA to provide ambulance service to residents in both
communities at a reduced response time.
In January of this year, the voters created solidified the FRFDA by creating one district, without
borders between the two municipalities, to serve the entire community.
The proactive work these two, once independent, agencies took on to ensure the best service was
provided to their residents is a shining example of what it truly means to be a public servant. Please
consider acknowledging that successful effort and showcase the hard work these men and women
have accomplished for their communities.
