Re: Solid Waste Disposal Site -- Erie
Dear Commissioners:
It has been called to the attention of the Board of
Trustees that the Board of County Commissioners is
considering the closure of the Weld County Pay Dump
located at the Junction of Road 5 and Road 6 ( 2
miles east of Erie).
At the regular meeting of the Board held on May
14, 1979, the Board agreed that the closure of this
site would be an undue hardship on the citizens of
Erie as well as other areas which use the dump.
Before closing this site, we ask that you weigh the
following considerations before making a decision:
1. Fuel shortages with increased mileage to
travel for users.
2. Added costs to users.
3. Hardships on residents in having to
travel further.
4. Increased litering along all of our
county roads.
5. Inability of residents to rid themselves
of trash except by commercial pickup.
The Board and residents of Erie urge you to reconsider
the above before closing of this site. It is one of
the few services available to citizens and municipalities
in the southern end of the County.
