RESOLUTION
RE: REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NARROWS
DAM AND RESERVOIR PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, are vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Narrows Dam and Reservoir has been envisioned
by conservationists since the year 1909 and the design thereof has
been proofed and reproofed and found to be sound and feasible in
every respect, and
WHEREAS, the Narrows Project has been thoroughly investigated
by the United States Bureau of Reclamation and other agencies, and
WHEREAS, its location to be set on that area on the river' s
channel historically known as the Narrows is calculated to be in
every respect the most beneficial for the purpose of water storage
and preservation of Wildlife and provision of recreation, and
WHEREAS, the waters impounded by the Narrows Dam and Reservoir
will capture and put to beneficial use hundreds of thousands of
acre feet of water now escaping beyond the borders of the State of
Colorado, and
WHEREAS , those waters captured will supplement irrigation of
some 300, 000 acres of land as the capabilities of larger production
are increased, and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado, will be better able to meet
the demands of the nation and the world for food in future years if
excess waters of the South Platte are impounded by the Narrows
Dam and Reservoir,
WHEREAS, by Resolution dated April 5th, 1976, the Board of
County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, unanimously endorsed
and supported the construction of the Narrows Dam and Reservoir
Project to be constructed on the lower South Platte River, a copy
of said Resolution being attached hereto, and
WHEREAS, a copy of this Resolution is to be forwarded to the
President of the United States , Secretary of Interior, Secretary of
the Army, the Members of Congress and the United States Bureau of
Reclamation as well as the Governor of the State of Colorado, and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to re-
affirm its position as stated in said Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado, that it endorses and supports
the construction of the Narrows Dam and Reservoir Project to be
constructed on the lower South Platte River.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 23rd day of
March, A.D. , 1977.
The above and foregoing Resolution was read into the record
and signed on the 28th day of March, A.D. , 1977.
