RE: APPROVE CREATION OF AD -HOC WELD COUNTY HOME RULE CHARTER
AMENDMENT STUDY COMMITTEE AND APPOINT MEMBERS THERETO
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to establish an ad -hoc Weld County Home Rule Charter
Amendment Study Committee to review the Weld County Home Rule Charter to determine if
amendments thereto would be beneficial to provide good government by and for the citizens of
Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, all amendments recommended by said Committee must comply with the
requirements and limitations set forth in Article XIV, Section 16 of the Colorado Constitution, and
C.R.S. §§30-11-101, et seq., and C.R.S. Title 30, Article 35, and
WHEREAS, said Committee shall hold at least five (5) public outreach meetings at places
located throughout Weld County, and
WHEREAS, minutes shall be taken for all Committee meetings and shall be submitted to
the Board of County Commissioners immediately upon their approval by said Committee, and
WHEREAS, said Committee shall exist to and until it makes its recommendations to the
Board of County Commissioners, at 9:00 a.m., on July 23, 2018, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Board of County Commissioners wishes to appoint to said
Committee Jackie Johnson and Justus Pettit representing Commissioner District 1; David Kisker
and Garrett Varra representing Commissioner District 2; James Welch and Sam Gluck
representing Commissioner District 3; and Al Dominguez, Mark Lawley and Ray Patch at -large.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that an ad -hoc Weld County Home Rule Charter Amendment Study Committee
to review the Weld County Home Rule Charter to determine if amendments thereto would be
beneficial to provide good government by and for the citizens of Weld County, Colorado, be, and
hereby is, created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that review of the Charter by said Committee
and its recommendations shall be made in accordance with the directives set forth above.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Jackie Johnson and Justus Pettit
representing Commissioner District 1; David Kisker and Garrett Varra representing Commissioner
District 2; James Welch and Sam Gluck representing Commissioner District 3; and Al Dominguez,
Mark Lawley and Ray Patch at -large, be, and hereby are, appointed to said Committee, with said
appointments to terminate upon said Committee's conclusion on July 23, 2018.
