Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment Second Floor Hearing Room 210 The Weld County Board of Health met July 24, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in the second -floor hearing room of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. Those present included: Board Members: Linda Kautz, Joyce Smock, Sandra Owens, Nicholas Berryman, Jim Rohn, Fred Hepner, Others: Lauren Light, Katie Sall, Environmental Health Services APPROVAL OF AGENDA A motion was made by Sandra Owens to approve the agenda as presented. Linda Kautz seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Jim Rohn to approve minutes as presented. Fred Hepner seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. BUSINESS VERIS ENVIRONMENTAL, LLC — Katie Sall presented the applications for biosolid renewals DS -200667, DS -200813, DS -200814, DS -200816, DS -201319, DS -200819, DS -200820, DS - 200821, DS -200824, DS -200823, DS -201205. No public comments or concerns were received on these applications. A motion was made by Fred Hepner to approve renewal applications. Nick Berryman seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. PRESENTATIONS: Alex Clemments, Environmental Health Specialist, gave an overview on On -site Wastewater Treatment System — OWTS, septic systems. • 2018 — 266 permits issued which include commercial and residential • Complaints received on septic issues include sewage, running tap out of house, failed systems • Environmental Health generally receive around 30-50 complaints yearly • Initial inspections are completed to inspect soil and property, issues with setbacks • Weld County has a variety of soils — clay, gravel, sand, bedrock • 80 % of septic systems are plastic infiltrator systems • Recommendation is to have septic tank pumped every 3-5 years vr>mvr-;co1,+ions 2018-3236 Kelly Martinez, Health Communication, Education and Planning, gave a presentation on DRIVE SMART, Weld • Community Coalition members include, 1st responders, Banner Paramedics, Greeley Police, Weld County Sheriffs, Weld County Health Department, Allstate, State Farm, Aims Community College, Motor Carriers Association and Anshor Driving School • Driver's Ed Scholarships available • Buckle Up Drive Smart • Drive Smart Teen • Parent of Teen Driver Classes • Target population — ages 14-19 • Survivor speakers • Website — www.drivesmartweldcounty.org STAFF DISCUSSION: Lauren Light shared there is an open At Large Board of Health position and we have three applicants. A motion was made by Joyce Smock for nominations for Board of Health Chairman. Jim Rohn nominated Joyce Smock and the motion was carried unanimously. Joyce Smock is the new Board of Health, Chairman. Jim Rohn volunteered for Vice Chairman and Sandra Owens seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously. Jim Rohn is the new Board of Health, Vice Chairman.
