The Board proceeded to sit as a Board of Equalization to hear complaints from those aggtieved by the changes made in their assessments at the first meeting and to further cor- rect and equalize the assessment roll for the year 1900 as required by law and to transact such other business as may properly come before it. � ' IN THE MATTER OF CHANGE IN ASSESSMENT OF JOHN CRAVEN. Mr.John Craven came before the Board and made objections to the increase of $70.00 in his assessment,and after hearing the same it was on motion ordered that the raise be reduced .$40.00 leaving his assessment to stand as follows: 4 Range Stock $40. and 8 Dairy Cows $160. ,making an increase in his original as- sessment of $30.00. IN THE MATTER OF PETITION OF ROBERT JOHNSON. A petition was presented from Mr.Robert Johnson ask- ing for a rebate of 1899 taxes on the S.E.+ of Sec.28 Tp. 3 N.R.66 W. and the N.E.* of Sec.26 Tp. 3 N.R.67 W.by reason of excessive valuation and after due consideration it was on motion ordered that he be granted a rebate of taxes on the said S.E.* on a valuation of $320.00 and on the said N.E.4 on a valuation of $400.00. Mr.James H.Orr came before the Board and made objections against a raise of $30.00 on work horses of Louisa B.Orr and after hearing said objections it was on motion ordered that the raise of $30.00 be taken off. Girvan came before the Board and ob- jected to the raise of $30.00 on his Horses and gave his reasons therefor and after hearing the same it was on motion ordered that the raise of $30.00 be taken off. , / IN THE MATTER OF CHANGE IN ASSESSMENT OF F. G.FISHER. Mr.F. G.Fisher came before the Board and made ob- jections against the additional assessment made against him on Moneys,Notes and Credits for the year 1900 for the reason that on May lst. 1900 he did not have as much of such property as is assessed against him and that he is willing to pay taxes on a basis of $1100.00. After due consideration it was on motion ordered that his assessment on Moneys,Notes -arid Credits be reduced to $350:00. '// IN THE MATTER OF ASSESS- MENT OF F. G. FISHER. It is ordered by the Board that the County Treasurer • accept the sum of $13.55 from F. G. A petition was presented from Painter Bros. asking that they be granted a rebate of taxes for the year 1899 on their grazing lands ,being the same character of lands upon which a reduction was made to the U.P.R.R. S.A.Osborn and E.A.Thompson came before the Board and presented a petition setting forth that S.A.Osborn & G.W.Taylor were the owners of certain lots and blocks in Erie Heights;that said property has been assessed for the taxes of 1898 and 1899 at the actual value thereof as shown by affidavit attached to said petition ;that said property has been sold to the County for the taxes for said years and the petitioners desire to redeem the same from said tax sale if a satisfactory adjustment could be made. They stated that the assessments heretofore made are excessive and too high in proportion to the actual value of said property at the present time and asked that they be allowed to redeem upon a just and equitable basis.
