Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment

The Weld County Board of Health met March 27, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in the second -floor
hearing room of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. Those
present included:
Board Members: Jason Maxey, Chair; Joyce Smock, Vice Chair; Bill Wood, Jim
Rohn, Nicholas Berryman, Linda Kautz
Others: Lauren Light, Environmental Health Manager, Katie Sall,
Environmental Health Services
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
A motion was made by Bill Wood to approve the agenda as presented. Nicholas Berryman
seconded the motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Joyce Smock to approve minutes as presented. Jim Rohn seconded the
motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
CONSENT ITEMS
A motion was made by Jim Rohn to approve Biosolids Renewals, DS -201306, DS -200423, DS -
200548, DS -200704, DS -201402, DS -1600001, DS- 1700001, DS -1700002. Linda Kautz seconded
the motion and the motion was carried unanimously. There was no public comment.
VARIANCE REQUESTS
Katie Sall presented Permit No: SP -1800095. This is a real estate sale and an
inspection was done on the variance to the house. The septic tank lid is made up of
railroad ties and there are several water and gas lines in the front yard.
Recommendation is for a standard system with tank and absorption area closer than 20
feet from the residence.
A motion was made by Bill Wood to approve variance request. Linda Kautz seconded
the motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
PRESENTATIONS
Ben Frissell and Dan Parkos — Environmental Health Services
• A PowerPoint was presented on household hazardous waste.
• Weld County has two sites, Greeley and Dacono.
• Drop and swap and business waste programs are available.
• There is a fee for commercial drop offs.
• Board of Health members were invited to tour the Greeley site.

Eric Aakko, Director, Health Communication, Education & Planning presented an
overview on the Health Department Accreditation
• Weld County Department of Public Health & Environment received Accreditation,
November 2016 for a period of 5 years.
• Performance Management System was used to complete annual review.
• Quality Improvement (QI) — a customer service satisfaction survey was
completed with 97% satisfactory results.
A motion was made by Jim Rohn to adjourn the meeting. Linda Kautz seconded the
motion and the motion was carried unanimously.
