Please contact the Central Weld office for further information about water service. Due to the rapid cost increase of raw water, existing tap fees may not apply for water service to this property. As we discussed here at ATD, if the purpose of the bathroom is for family only, and there is no commercial use of the property or employees who will use the bathroom, then the bathroom can be added to the existing septic system with just an application for a permit to the county. My recommendation to you is to write a letter to the county, indicating that you have an opinion from James, indicating that an inspection is not required. Please use James' name in the letter, as stating that you have information from a specific person makes the county personnel more comfortable with the decision. If the new building is in any way associated with a commercial business then they will need an engineer evaluation of the system. She has indicated that she has an existing OWTS permit, and wants to add a bathroom in a building she is planning to construct. She stated that the development is for family only, so there will be no additional load to the septic system. She indicated that at the preliminary USR meeting, they told her she would need an engineer to evaluate the septic system to add the bathroom. My understanding is that if they are not adding any wastewater load, that they can increase bathrooms without having to have the system inspected. Is that correct? Since she is just adding a bathroom for the existing people who already live there. Please let me know on that, so I can get back to her to let her know if she needs an OWTS evaluation.
