Gentlemen :
This department wishes to express its gratitude
to everyone for the tremendous response that was
received as a result of the disastrous flood that
occurred in the Big Thompson Canyon on July 31 , 1976 .
The response from all was overwhelming and was most
appreciative.
As you well know , it will be quite sometime
before the memory of that horrifying night will be
forgotten ; especially , for those who lived thru that
devistating night to tell about it ; for those who
lost their lives , all of us and their loved ones will
bear the sorrow; now, the tedious job of cleaning up ,
rebuilding, repairing that must be done to once again
make the canyon a peaceful area to drive through and
to live in.
I am extremely sorry that I was not able to
acknowledge your assistance sooner due to cir-
cumstances beyond my control , but personally want to
thank all of those who worked so diligently to help
in every way possible .
