RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE RESCHEDULED
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 14.5 BETWEEN COUNTY ROAD 23
AND U.S. HIGHWAY 85 FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) DAYS, FOR CULVERT
REPLACEMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 42-4-106(6)(a), C.R.S.:
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that unforeseen delays exist which make it necessary to
reschedule the closure dates from the original closure dates effective January 8, 2018, through
January 12, 2018, to temporarily close said County Roads to through traffic and to regulate, warn
and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs thereon beginning January 22, 2018, through
January 26, 2018.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the temporary closure of County Road 14.5, between
County Road 23 and U.S. Highway 85, be rescheduled for unanticipated delays, with said closure
being effective January 22, 2018, for approximately five (5) days through January 26, 2018, for a
culvert replacement, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at
said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
CR. 14.5 between. CR 23 and HWY 85 is closed to thru traffic from 1/22/2018 thru 1/26/2018 for
a culvert replacement. It was originally scheduled to be closed to thru traffic from 1/8/2018 thru
1/12/2018.
CR 64.5 between CR 57 and CR 59 is closed to thru traffic from 1/8/2018 thru 1/19/2018 for a
culvert replacement. It was originally scheduled to be closed to thru traffic from 12/11/17 to
12/22/17.
Both were approved previously on December's agendas. Because of unforeseen delays, Public
Works is re -submitting them with current closure dates.
