The Weld County Board of Commissioners is proud to provide this letter of support for the Visit Greeley/Greeley Area
Chamber of Commerce's application for the Colorado Blueprint 2.0 Initiative: Tourism Promotion and Development grant.
Throughout our 4,000 square miles and 32 municipalities, Weld County is home to several chambers of commerce and
multiple tourist attractions. Tourism overall, however, is something relatively new for the county as a whole. This grant,
which would provide mentorship and assistance in developing a strategic plan for the promotion of our region/county,
would be highly beneficial for all of our partnering agencies.
In 2011, Weld County participated in the original Economic Blueprint process and made great strides toward promoting
Weld County's people, places and events (which was one of the goals identified by our region) when we developed the
Discover Weld platforms, which serve to promote Weld County.
Since 2011. Weld County has:
• Created a full-time position to focus on developing Discover Weld, an economic and tourism platform to promote
Weld County's people, places and events.
• Created an award -winning web site which has received more than 32,000 users from all 50 states and more than 114
countries.
• Developed social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest,
• Held annual meetings with our municipalities and attractions to talk about how we can all help promote each other's
events and Weld County overall.
While these accomplishments have promoted Weld County, our municipalities and our attractions, it is time to help all of
these agencies take the next step on working together to strategically promote our assets.
The Board of Commissioners is pleased the Greeley Area Chamber of Commerce has volunteered to apply for the grant.
We agree this grant that provides for mentorship and development of a strategic plan to be used by all tourist entities and
local governments will be highly beneficial.
Promoting Weld County's assets is important to Weld County government as it brings visitors, new residents and new
businesses to our county: it brings economic benefits that strengthen us all.
