To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of WELD County, Colorado: GENTLEMEN: Your Viewers appointed on the_____ .10th _- _.day of - __.__-_June 19L6__to view a County Road prayed for in a certain petition presented to your honorable body on the above named day and date, a copy of which has been received by us, viz: Commencing at__the_section_line between sections 2 and 3, Township 3, North of Range 62 West , at the Northwest corner of the Southwest quarter of the Southwest of said Section, connecting at said point with road No. 627, as now laid out and established, thence South on or near section line to the Lost Creek Reservoir, thence around the Easterly boundary line of said reservoir to Lost Creek, thence in a Southwesterly direction following near said creek and along the line of the present old traveled road , varying therefrom only when necessary to secure a better route for a road, continuing in a similar direction to a point on the North and South half section line of section 6 on the North side of the Burlington R. R. right of way, just East of the town of Roggen, connecting at said point with a county road now laid out and establiehdd, in Township 2, North of Range 62 West of the 6th Principal meridian. Respectfully submit the following report, to-wit: After receiving our authority to act, we met at the starting point of said proposed road, on the 20th day of June 19]_g at the hour of 1 . ._o'clock- P_.M., being the time and place specified in our appointment, and proceeded to view the road prayed for in said petition, as follows: We commenced at the starting point named in said petition. and ran from the section line between sections 2 and 3, Township 3, North of Range 62 West, at the Northwest corner of the Southwest quarter of the Southwest of said section, connecting at said point with road No. 627 , as now laid out and established, thence South on or near section line to the Lost Creek Reservoir, thence around the Easterly boundary line of said reservoir to Lost Creek, thence in a Southwesterly direction following near said creek and along the line of the present old traveled road , varying therefrom only when necessary to secure a better route for a road , continuing in a similar direction to a point on the North and South half section line of section 6 on the North side of the Burlington R. We found it necessary to make the following changes in the proposed route as prayed for, viz: We , the undersigned viewers, appointed to examine the road herein described, extending much of its distance in the valley of Lost Creek, we would give as our opinion, based on the examination of the land on which the road should be located, that the usual custom of following sections or interior lines in this case is not possible , but that a county road should be established following as a general rule the road now in use. This present road is the one which has been in use by cattle men and others during the past thirty or more years , and so selected to avoid numerous crossings of Lost Creek and the boggy ground otherwise encountered. Some rather short curves might perhaps be reduced to advantage , but otherwise we believe no material changes should be made in the line of road now traveled. • TT'e have taken the following Government Lands, viz.: We have taken the following Railroad Grant Lands, viz: We have marked out the line of said road as located by us by turning a farrow on each.side of said proposed road. To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of. Weld County, Colo. GENTLEMEN:—We, the undersigned, Citizens of your County, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County wagon road to be laid out as follows, to-wit: Commencing at The section line between sections 2 and 3, Township 3, Norkg;onLaype 62 West , at the Northwest corner of the Southwest quarter/cif ff said section, connecting at said point with road No. 627 , as now laid out and established, thence South on or near section line to the Lost Creek Reservoir, thence around the Easterly boundary line of said reservoir to Lost Creek, thence in a Southwesterly direction following near said creek and along the line of the present old traveled road, varying therefrom only when necessary to secure a better route for a road, continuing in a similar direction to a point on the North and South half section line of section 6 on the North side of the Burlington R. R. right of way , just East of the town of Roggen, connecting at said point with a county road now laid out and establish- ed, in Township 2, North of Range 62 West of the 6th Principal meri- dian. Whereas: The very sandy and hilly nature of this country,make it impossible to construct and maintain a road,fit to travel,along section lines only at a probibitive cost, And Whereas:- By following the course of Lost Creek more or less directly,as travelled at the present time, offers the only practical route for said road to be constructed in an economical and practical manner, And whereas:- The,gection of Country proposed to be travelled by suoh road,is essentially a stock Country,and is used for such purpose entirely,and furthermore for the successful use of same it would be very detrimental and ruinous to the owners of land along said road to fence same,as it would make it impossible for stock to get backwards and forwards from feed to water and vice versa; Therefore:- It is mutually understood that each of the signore to this petition who respectfully own or control the land over which proposed road is to be laid out,donate the land for such 'read,and sanction the use of same,with the understanding and agreement,that the road is to remain unfenced as atpresent,and all gates where they cross said road kept shut. The Board of County Commissioners further agree to construct good wooden gates on said road,where fences cross same,and post notices at each gate that they should be kept shut,By order of the Board of County Commissioners. • Said road to be not less than sixty (60) feet in width. We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a County road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of one dollar to us each and severally in hand paid by the said County of Weld the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and of the laying out and opening of said road, hereby agree to give the right of way through our lands as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims for damage by reason thereof. /OOP..
