Please allow this letter to serve as a letter of support from the Board of Weld County Commissioner for Middle South
Platte River Alliance's (MSPRA) grant application from the Bureau of Reclamation's Water SMART Cooperative
Watershed Management Program Funding Opportunity. MSPRA strives to promote and implement projects that restores
the Middle South Platte River's natural systems and help protect property from future flood events. The projects may
include flood debris clean-up, river bank restoration, land conservation, removal of sediment from bridges and diversion
structures and other projects deemed necessary to support a healthy and resilient river system.
We encourage the Cooperative Watershed Management Program to fund the grant request from the Middle South Platte
River Alliance to leverage federal funding to support the stakeholder efforts to stretch scarce water supplies and avoid
conflicts over water. These funds are intended to support the capacity of Middle South Platte River Alliance to continue
to foster local and regional sustainability and resiliency efforts.
