To appeal the Assessor's decision, complete the Petition to the County Board of Equalization shown

To preserve your appeal rights, your Petition to the County Board of Equalization must be
postmarked or delivered on or before July 15 for real property — after such date, your right to
appeal is lost. You may be required to prove that you filed a timely appeal; therefore, we
recommend that all correspondence be mailed with proof of mailing.
You will be notified of the date and time scheduled for your hearing. The County Board of
Equalization must mail a written decision to you within five business days following the date of the
decision. The County Board of Equalization must conclude hearings and render decisions by August

Dear County Assessor:
I would like to dispute the assessment I was given this year. I bought this property in
2015 for $180,000. That year, 2015, the value was assessed at a $7,767 loss.
In 2016, the value remained the same, $131,211. In 2016, I replaced the front portico and
painted the inside and outside of Buildin, 1. No other improvements were made, other
than clearing out tons of overgrowth in the yard.
In 2017, the value increased $78,200. I had replaced the roof on Building 2, put used tin
on the outside, slapped a shower in, and put in a stove and cabinetry in for a kitchen.
This building had been abandoned for many years. There is no bathroom. (The picture
showing Building 2 shows a porta-potty in the right.) I spent about $13,000 fixing up
Building 2. No improvements were made on Building 1.
In 2018, the assessment increased $60,005. I thought this was crazy but didn't object.
The value of the property was now $269,416.
This year, 2019, the value increased $103,650 AND the "current year actual value" was
put at an astounding $373,066!!!
I believe this value of this property remains at $180,000. I have included pictures with
my appeal and historic values.
