County Commissioners, Weld County, _ _ Greeley, _ Colorado. - - - - - — -- -- Gentlemen:- We enclose herewith by request a petition to yourselves regarding and pertaining to the present road conditions here at this time. Both the roads south of Roggen are roads that have been hard-dirted and no, full of holes and practically impassible. Many of the farmers have discontinued hauling wheat on this account and many are hauling to much farther markets in order that they may meet their obligations. Business here in Roggen has fallen off over fifty percent in the last two weeks simply on account of the roads. Truck drivers have practically abandoned hauling and two drivers to-daft had to be pulled out of the chuck-holes. One bireaking a spring on his truck. This being the second one he has had the mis- fortune to break on this road. Mr. Frank Smith of Hudson made a trip down here some two - weeks ago and surely could see the condition of same and at that time - we askefor immediate results. However to-date nothing has been done and the general public sentiment is blue. Many seem to have have boycotted the town. We write this letter to your Honorable Department feeling that if you really knew the conditions that some effort would be made to partially overcome the same for the present possibly until a permanent road could be made. Possibly the cutting of some right-a-wa$$ hay and placed in the ruts would eliminate the present danger, However we will appreciate an effort that r>yy shown us but feel that the matter should have immediate attention. We would add that this bad road only extends for some to miles immediately south of the town of Roggen and the balance of the road is in fairly good shape.
