Please place this request for the installation of Speed Limit signs on the next available BOCC agenda. Weld County currently maintains both roadway segments. Both segments of roadway arc paved, and Weld County has no existing speed limit signs posted on either one of them. Recent traffic counts found the 85'1' percentile speed on WCR 7.5 to be 39 MPH. The 85''' percentile speed measured on Stagecoach Rd. is 32 MPH. Using my engineering judgement, I believe the proper speed limit for the WCR 7.5 would be 40 MPH, and the proper speed limit for Stagecoach Rd. would be 35 MPH. What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options): • Approve the installation of 40 MPH and 35 MPH Speed Limit signs for these road segments. o Law enforcement will be able to enforce the speed limits on these road segments which are in residential and business areas o 7 sign installations are estimated to cost $1,750 ($250 apiece) • Deny the installation of Speed Limit signs for these road segments. o Speed limit would technically be 55 MPH for this area which is mainly a residential and business area Recommendation: Staff recommends posting the speed limit on WCR 7.5 south of St. Hwy. 119 to 40 MPH. Staff also recommends posting the speed limit on Stagecoach Rd. to 35 MPH.
