TO ALL LANDFILL OPERATORS :
A near fatality in a Denver area landfill recently has prompted Ls)
great concern among members of the Colorado Solid Wastes Manage-
ment Association over what might appear to be an apparent slack
in certain safety standards and concerns .
The Colorado 'Solid Wastes Management Association is indeed grate-
ful and appreciative to the private and municipal landfill
operators for their many courtesies and consideration, and as an
industry, we are interested in continuing and fostering the work-
ing partnership we have enjoyed over many years .
We would request however, that whenever possible, landfill manage- .
ment restrict cat operations in the immediate area where unloading
is taking place, either by a commercial hauler or a private
citizen. We feel this will greatly reduce the possibility of
accidents and could prevent an untimely fatality.
Cognizant of the many favors landfill operators have extended
members of our industry during inclement weather, the industry
is indeed appreciative of the assistance given in freeing bogged-
down vehicles . We would be equally appreciative if additional
consideration could be given our equipment, thus avoiding down
time and costly repairs .
Your consideration in these two requests will be greatly appre-
ciated by the private trash haulers throughout Colorado.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours ,
Clarence H. Frei

of this letter to all employees responsible
